Design by Peter Query

The design of this puzzle looks a bit like Wega and Phobus. The puzzle is made by six wooden plates which are connected o each other is such a fashion a pyramid is formed. If you have solved the puzzle you can also see Sol is also based upon a cube: Every plate is a part of one side of a cube.

The pieces of this puzzle are made of a wooden board with a proportion of 1 : 2,4. This is the same proportion as in the Phobus puzzle. The pieces of this puzzle are also sawn slanted. If you look at the design graph, you can see that two different notches are used for the pieces of this puzzle. You can find ten different combinations of these notches as shown in the diagram below. If you make the Sol puzzle for yourself you can choose six pieces. Three pieces come together at every vertex of this puzzle. A total of three notches are at every vertex. Since four vertexes are within this puzzle a total of twelve notches is essential to complete this puzzle. For the design above the pieces A, B, F, G, I and J are chosen.

The solution of this puzzle is not so easy to find. First you have to find out where to put every piece. After that you can try to construct the pieces to one structure.

With the aid of the design graph you can make this puzzle by yourself.
